      I live and work in Sheffield. I’m a researcher into battery technologies during the day, especially for electric vehicles.

      I love running, especially marathons and longer races than that. I’m a Rugby fanatic and a battered supporter of Ipswich Town FC. I collect records and love listening to them!

      I have another two ultras planned for 2022.
      Running helps me relax and I do all my thinking when I am running!
      I am originally from Wales, so being a rugby fan is fairly normal. I ended up supporting Ipswich Town by accident – and have regretted it ever since.
      I started collecting records when I was a teenager and I am now an avid collector. I can often be found having a dig around second hand shops or records shops in search of that rare piece of vinyl. I like nearly all types of music and have records in my collection from every year from 1960 to 2021!

    • My Typical Day:

      I always start the day with a short run and then a coffee. So I get up and out by 6.30am.

      I am in the lab by about 9am where I do lots of experimental work.

      I usually have a working lunch with another researcher and then its back to the lab. Depending on what is to do, I try to get away by 5pm.

    • What I'd do with the prize money:

      I have always wanted to run the 6 major marathons this will help me tick another off my list!

      The six major marathons are: London, Chicago, New York, Boston, Berlin and Tokyo

      I have completed London marathon 4 times and would love to do each of the majors at least once before I hang up my running shoes. I would love to do Berlin in 2022!

        I would love to run my own record shop

        What is the most fun thing you've done?

        The London Marathon - everyone should do it once. It is amazing.
